*I’m going to flip the content format of this post: first the important crisis line info & then scroll down for the written section*
The following lines do not use not use police intervention:
Note: The following hotlines & warmlines are noted to provide alternatives to police intervention and avoid using police in *most cases*. Prior to using any services, ask about their policies before disclosing any personal information that could lead to an involuntary intervention or forced hospitalization.
Some hotlines & warmlines use mobile crisis units with mental health professionals, first responders, etc. who are mandated reporters and can administer psychiatric assessments that may trigger forced hospitalization.
Stay safe friends. <3

Untitled - January 21, 2025 at 18.56.23
On January 21st at almost 7pm central I sat on my phone that evening and on my phone started plugging in LGBTQ+ Crisis Hotline numbers to a post. I don’t remember *exactly* what was going on but it was also inauguration day so probably bad things.
When the news broke late last week that documents from a leaked report showed that funding was on the tabled to be pulled from the National Suicide Prevention Line… I can’t say that I was *surprise* because how can anyone be really at this point. Especially because it’s OF COURSE for LGBTQ+ youth specifically.
It’s been a few years now but I’ve written before about how important it is for queer youth to have access to support and resources.
This defunding wouldn’t happen until later this year - October - reportedly. The 988 number, converted from a traditional phone number format in 2022, is funded through Department of Health and Human Services, and it offers LGBTQ-inclusive emergency crisis support BECAUSE WHY WOULDN’T IT. The cool things about public services means that the data is also public and at the time of writing this they have routed 14,568,848 (Calls, Texts, Chats) since launching 988 in July 2022 - with an average call length of 20mins.
1,284,075 of those calls were from LGBTQI+ identifying folks - as of February 2025.
It’s clear that the current administration doesn’t want us around which is why we have to keep existing out of pure spite if anything.
Keep your heads up my friends and reach out to those around you - especially the ones who seem like they’re okay (they’re probably not), because together we’ll make it.
